Property Taxes
Though taxes increased while Mark Begich was Mayor, he's apparently was not paying attention to his own.
In 1999, Mark Begich headed the purchase of the Carson Hot Springs Resort in Carson City, Nevada.1
Begich said his family owns the resort, and Begich and his wife have been named as "majority owners" of the resort.2,3
Since 2000-01, Begich's business, the Carson Hot Springs Resort, has been late paying its property tax on at least 23 times resulting in penalties of almost $4,000.
According to the Carson City, Nev. Assessor, Carson City Holding, LLC, has been late paying property tax for the property at 1500 Old Hot Springs Rd. in Carson City, Nev., on 23 of 29 payments since tax year 2000-01, and has been penalized $3,941.86.4
Mark Begich had to be penalized for not paying property taxes 23 out of 29 times over 7 years.
